# AMD Brings Strix Halo to Robots With Six Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Chips

- AMD’s X100 family comprises the X168, X188 and X199, plus industrial-temperature “i” versions of each chip.
[[1]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/embedded.html) - The flagship X199 has 16 Zen 5 cores, 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units, a 50-TOPS NPU and a configurable 45- to 120-watt power range.
[[2]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/embedded/ryzen-ai/x100-series/ryzen-ai-embedded-x199i.html) - AMD says X100 supports continuous 24/7 operation for up to 10 years; its product pages list 2037 as the last-time-buy year.

AMD has launched six Ryzen AI Embedded X100 processors that adapt its Strix Halo architecture for robots, autonomous machines and other edge systems requiring sustained operation. The family combines Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, an XDNA 2 neural processor and unified LPDDR5X memory.[[1]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/embedded.html)

The range includes the eight-core X168 and X168i, 12-core X188 and X188i, and 16-core X199 and X199i. Every model has a 50-TOPS NPU and a 45- to 120-watt configurable power range. The industrial “i” variants are rated for junction temperatures from minus 40 to 105 degrees Celsius, while standard versions start at zero degrees.[[1]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/embedded.html)

## Long-life silicon for machines

The flagship X199 reaches a 5.1 GHz CPU boost clock and pairs 16 cores with 40 graphics compute units and as much as 128 GB of unified memory. The X188 and X168 have 32 graphics compute units, with maximum CPU clocks of 5 GHz.[[1]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/embedded.html)[[2]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/embedded/ryzen-ai/x100-series/ryzen-ai-embedded-x199i.html)

AMD says the chips can support continuous 24/7 operation for up to 10 years. Its specifications list 2037 as the last-time-buy year, giving robot manufacturers a longer procurement horizon than consumer processors typically offer.[[2]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/embedded/ryzen-ai/x100-series/ryzen-ai-embedded-x199i.html)[[3]](https://www.amd.com/en/blogs/2026/from-benchmarks-to-behavior-rethinking-performance-in-a.html)

## Kria platform takes aim at Jetson and Panther Lake

AMD is also putting X100 into a 120-by-120-millimeter Kria AI system-on-module and a developer platform combining the module with an FPGA-equipped carrier board, camera inputs, industrial networking and a ROS 2-based software stack. Early access has started, with full production planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.[[4]](https://www.amd.com/en/products/system-on-modules/kria/ai.html)[[5]](https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amds-new-x100-chip-lineup-puts-strix-halo-into-robots-apus-for-physical-ai-bring-zen-5-cpu-rdna-3-5-gpu-cores-to-compete-with-intels-panther-lake)

The platform enters a market led by Nvidia’s Jetson modules, whose T5000 offers up to 128 GB of memory and a 40- to 130-watt power range, and Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3, or Panther Lake, which Intel is promoting with OpenVINO-based robotics software.[[6]](https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/jetson-modules) [7] AMD’s new robotics partner network includes congatec, Kontron, Arbor, iBase, IEI, MassRobotics, mimik and MulticoreWare, among others.
