The AI infrastructure arm of India's AM Group is betting big on Nvidia's latest platform as part of a multi-billion-dollar compute buildout across Asia
AM Intelligence just placed one of the largest known orders for Nvidia’s newest hardware: 9,000 Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale systems, destined for an AI factory in Hyderabad, India. The order represents AMI’s first major hardware commitment as the company embarks on a plan to spend over $8B on AI compute infrastructure globally.
The systems are scheduled for delivery by Q1 2027, powering the initial 30 MW phase of the Hyderabad facility.
What Vera Rubin actually is #
Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform entered full production in May 2026. It’s purpose-built for what the industry calls “agentic AI,” meaning AI systems that can reason, plan, and take actions autonomously rather than just responding to prompts.
The NVL72 designation refers to a rack-scale configuration, meaning these aren’t individual chips being slotted into existing servers. Each system is a fully integrated computing rack designed from the ground up for massive AI workloads.
AMI’s broader ambitions #
AM Intelligence operates as the AI infrastructure division of India’s AM Group, and the Hyderabad facility is only one piece of a considerably larger puzzle. The company has outlined plans to invest more than $8B in AI compute infrastructure worldwide.
But the real eye-catcher in AM Group’s portfolio is a separate project: a $25B, 1 GW green-powered AI and high-performance computing hub planned for Greater Noida. That facility aims to reach 350 MW of capacity by 2028.

What this means for the AI hardware landscape #
For India specifically, this investment reflects a broader national push toward sovereign AI capabilities. Without local compute capacity, Indian companies and researchers remain dependent on cloud providers headquartered elsewhere, which creates both cost and data sovereignty concerns. The Q1 2027 delivery timeline also bears watching. If AMI hits that target and brings its first 30 MW online on schedule, it would represent one of the fastest deployments of Vera Rubin hardware at scale. Any delays would ripple through the company’s broader $8B buildout plan and could affect confidence in its ambitious Greater Noida timeline.
