# Alphabet raises CapEx guidance to $205B as AI spending race accelerates

Google's parent company is doubling down on AI infrastructure with one of the largest capital spending plans in corporate history

Alphabet just told investors to expect it to spend more, a lot more. On July 22, 2026, the Google parent raised its full-year capital expenditure guidance to between $195 billion and $205 billion, up from the prior range of $180 to $190 billion. That $15 billion revision upward is not a rounding error. It is roughly the market cap of a mid-sized bank.

The revised figure represents nearly double what Alphabet spent on infrastructure in 2025.

## What Alphabet is actually buying

The spending breaks down in ways that tell you something about where the real AI arms race is happening. Roughly half of the CapEx is allocated to servers, with around 40% directed at data centers and networking equipment.

Part of that buildout includes a data center project in Jackson County, Alabama, slated for completion between 2026 and 2027. That project alone is valued at $1.5 billion, which gives a sense of how many facilities Alphabet must be planning when the total bill runs into the hundreds of billions.

The funding for all this did not appear from thin air. In June 2026, Alphabet executed an equity raise of $84.75 billion, specifically earmarked for AI infrastructure.

## The revenue case behind the spending

The bull case for all of this rests on Google Cloud, which is performing. Cloud revenue hit $24.8 billion in Q2 2026, a gain of 82% year-over-year.

The tension investors are sitting with is timing. Capital spending of this magnitude takes years to translate into earnings. Data centers depreciate over long periods, servers need to be refreshed, and the AI products that justify all this infrastructure still need to prove sustained, scalable monetization.

## Big Tech is all doing this at once

Alphabet is not alone. Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are running parallel buildouts, all framed around AI infrastructure demand. Collectively, AI-related capital expenditures across these four companies are projected to land between $600 billion and $725 billion in 2026.

For crypto markets, the spillover effects are not theoretical. AI infrastructure at this scale consumes enormous amounts of power. Data centers and Bitcoin miners are increasingly competing for the same electricity grid capacity, the same power purchase agreements, and in some regions the same land. When hyperscalers accelerate their buildouts, that competition intensifies. Energy costs for miners can rise, and new data center construction can delay or price out mining operations in regions where power is constrained.

There is also a chips angle. The GPU and custom silicon that powers AI training overlaps with the specialized hardware ecosystem adjacent to crypto mining infrastructure. Supply chain pressure on advanced semiconductors, driven by hyperscaler demand, has knock-on effects for any industry that needs high-performance compute at scale.

Alphabet’s revised guidance and its $84.75 billion equity raise suggest that at least one of the world’s most sophisticated capital allocators believes the demand is real, durable, and worth paying a premium to capture now rather than later.
