Akira ransomware scum blocked victim's security tools – and broke their own encryptor

Akira ransomware operators inadvertently broke their own file-encrypting malware while attempting to disable victims' security tools, according to a report from security firm SentinelOne. The self-inflicted flaw left encrypted files unrecoverable even if victims paid the ransom, undermining the gang's extortion scheme.
