A Beijing venue is blending drinks with artificial intelligence, giving visitors free access to DeepSeek-powered coding tools while positioning itself as a social hub for China’s growing AI community.

AGI Bar, based in Beijing’s Zhongguancun technology district, draws developers, investors, researchers and students who come for drinks as well as AI-focused gatherings, and offers free DeepSeek-powered coding access, Reuters reported on Aug. 17.

**Coding tokens served alongside cocktails**

The setup is powered by two Nvidia DGX Spark machines installed at the venue. Song De, the bar’s owner and an independent AI developer, has described artificial intelligence as something that could eventually become as widely available as internet access.

Through the bar’s Wi-Fi, customers can access an internal AI system that provides unlimited DeepSeek tokens for coding tasks.

Even the bar’s Chinese name plays on “knowledge distillation,” an AI technique for transferring capabilities between models, while also referencing the traditional process of making spirits.

**AI runs the bar behind the scenes**

AGI Bar has also built AI into its daily operations, using automated systems to manage reservations, inventory, memberships and utilities. Beyond the bar itself, it promotes a wider set of AI-focused activities, including product launches, industry networking, after-parties, branded events and mobile bar experiences for outside gatherings.

The venue also presents itself as a testing ground for embodied AI, giving emerging technologies a physical space to be demonstrated in front of developers, investors and industry participants.

That technology-focused approach fits its location on Zhongguancun’s Inno Way startup street, close to Tsinghua University, Peking University and several major technology companies.

**From stock prices in Dubai to AI in Beijing**

Digital systems are increasingly moving beyond screens and into physical social spaces. Before AI materialized in a Beijing bar, stock-market mechanics had already entered nightlife in Dubai.

Tiger Bar Stock Exchange, which opened in 2025, uses a demand-based pricing mechanism that makes drink prices rise and fall throughout the night. Popular orders become more expensive as demand increases, while less-requested drinks get cheaper, with the changes displayed on screens around the venue.

Beijing’s AGI Bar applies the same broader idea of building a social experience around digital systems, this time using AI tools, automation and coding access as part of the venue itself.
