But Can It Help You Decide What to Build Next?", "summary": "A developer involved with the project built.new argues that AI app builders should focus less on generating features from a single prompt and more on helping founders decide what belongs in version one and what to change after launch. The project is designed around a longer plan → build → ship → measure → market → improve loop, positioning restraint and post-launch feedback as the core value rather than raw feature generation.", "body_md": "Building the first version of an app is getting ridiculously fast.\n\nYou can describe an idea, wait a few minutes, and get something that already looks like a product.\n\nThat’s great.\n\nBut I think we’re starting to focus on the wrong part of the process.\n\nThe hard question is no longer just:\n\nCan AI build this?\n\nIt’s:\n\nWhat should we build first, what should we leave out, and what should we change after real users arrive?\n\nThe first prompt is not the product\n\nImagine you want to build a booking app for a small business.\n\nIt’s very easy to start adding things:\n\naccounts\n\nstaff roles\n\npayments\n\nanalytics\n\nnotifications\n\nloyalty\n\nadmin tools\n\nAI recommendations\n\nAnd technically, AI might be able to generate all of them.\n\nBut that doesn’t mean version one needs them.\n\nThe actual first question might simply be:\n\nWill customers use this instead of booking manually?\n\nIf you can answer that with one small workflow, everything else can wait.\n\nThat’s why I think the next generation of AI app builders needs to do more than generate features.\n\nIt needs to help with the decisions around them.\n\nBefore building, decide what actually belongs in version one\n\nThis is something we’re working on with built.new.\n\nFull disclosure: I’m involved with the project.\n\nThe workflow doesn’t begin with “generate my app.”\n\nIt begins with questions.\n\nWho is this for?\n\nWhat does the user absolutely need to do on day one?\n\nWhat can wait?\n\nWho pays?\n\nThen the product is planned screen by screen before the build starts.\n\nAnd sometimes the useful answer is:\n\nYou don’t need that feature yet.\n\nI think that matters more than it sounds.\n\nWhen generating software becomes cheap, restraint becomes a product feature.\n\nBuild is only step one\n\nThe other thing I think AI app builders get wrong is where they stop.\n\nA generated app is not automatically a business.\n\nOnce the product is live, you still need to know:\n\nAre people using it?\n\nWhere are they dropping off?\n\nWhich users are converting?\n\nWhich marketing channels are actually working?\n\nWhat should you change next?\n\nThat’s why built.new is designed around a longer loop:\n\nplan → build → ship → measure → market → improve\n\nThe app is one part of the system.\n\nThe feedback loop around the app is what turns it into a product.\n\nImagine the builder seeing what happens after launch\n\nTake a simple booking business.\n\nThe useful output isn’t only:\n\nYour booking app is live.\n\nIt could also be:\n\nSaturday appointments fill first.\n\nThis ad generated bookings. This one didn’t.\n\nNew customers are dropping before payment.\n\nShould we add a deposit to first bookings?\n\nThat’s a much more interesting role for AI.\n\nNot just generating another screen.\n\nHelping you understand what the business is telling you.\n\nThe prompt shouldn’t be the end of the conversation\n\nThere’s another problem with the “one prompt → app” idea.\n\nProducts change constantly.\n\nSomeone uses the app and asks for something.\n\nA workflow turns out to be confusing.\n\nA feature nobody expected becomes important.\n\nSo instead of treating the generated project as finished, I think the builder should stay part of the product loop.\n\nYou should be able to come back and say:\n\n“Add a deposit for first-time bookings.”\n\nor\n\n“Customers keep asking for evening slots. Change the booking flow.”\n\nAnd continue from the product you already have.\n\nThat’s much closer to how real software is built anyway.\n\nMaybe the real product is the loop\n\nAI has already made the distance between an idea and a first build much shorter.\n\nThe next challenge is shortening this distance:\n\nidea → plan → product → users → signal → better product\n\nThat’s the direction I find much more interesting.\n\nBecause the winner in AI app building probably won’t be the tool that generates the most features from one prompt.\n\nIt’ll be the one that helps someone with an idea keep making better decisions after the first prompt is over.\n\nWould you rather have an AI builder that generates more features, or one that helps you decide what to build next?", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ai-can-build-your-mvp-but-can-it-help-you-decide-what-to-build-next", "canonical_source": "https://dev.to/altuntas_gokcer_56ebce63b/ai-can-build-your-mvp-it-still-cant-decide-what-your-mvp-should-be-325h", "published_at": "2026-09-19 13:02:22+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-09-19 13:24:28.294012+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-tools", "ai-products", "generative-ai", "ai-agents"], "entities": ["built.new"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ai-can-build-your-mvp-but-can-it-help-you-decide-what-to-build-next", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ai-can-build-your-mvp-but-can-it-help-you-decide-what-to-build-next.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ai-can-build-your-mvp-but-can-it-help-you-decide-what-to-build-next.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/ai-can-build-your-mvp-but-can-it-help-you-decide-what-to-build-next.jsonld"}}
