# AgiBot kicks off Hong Kong IPO process with $6.4B valuation target

The Shanghai humanoid robotics firm has tapped Citic Securities, CICC, and Morgan Stanley to lead its listing push

A three-year-old Chinese robotics startup is gunning for a multibillion-dollar public debut, and it has picked one of the world’s most active IPO markets to do it.

AgiBot, a Shanghai-based humanoid robot manufacturer, officially began its Hong Kong IPO process on July 24, 2026, according to a report from Securities Times, a Chinese state-backed financial publication. The company is targeting a valuation between HK$40 billion and HK$50 billion, which works out to roughly $5.1 billion to $6.4 billion at current exchange rates.

AgiBot was founded in February 2023 by Deng Taihua and Peng Zhihui.

## What AgiBot actually does

The company builds humanoid robots and what it calls embodied AI systems, machines designed to operate autonomously in real-world physical environments. Its flagship product line is the A2 series.

AgiBot says it crossed a significant operational milestone in June 2026, having shipped 15,000 robot units.

The company’s backer list includes Tencent, Hillhouse Investment, and electric vehicle giant BYD.

## The IPO machinery

To shepherd the listing, AgiBot has brought in three joint sponsors: Citic Securities, China International Capital Corp (CICC), and Morgan Stanley.

Sources had flagged a Q3 2026 IPO timeline as early as October 2025, so this week’s formal process initiation tracks with what the market had been anticipating.

## What this means for investors watching the space

The 15,000-unit shipment figure is the number to watch. Institutional investors evaluating the IPO will want to see whether that trajectory is accelerating or plateauing, and whether margins on those units are moving in the right direction.

BYD’s involvement as an investor is particularly interesting from a market structure standpoint. BYD has manufacturing scale and supply chain relationships that most robotics startups can only dream about. Whether that relationship extends beyond a check, and into actual production partnerships, could materially affect how investors price AgiBot’s path to profitability.
