Advanced CAT Tool Features for Enhancing Consistency in MT and Generative AI Outputs

Judith Klein, in a paper presented at the 26th Annual Conference of the European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT) in June 2026 in Tilburg, Netherlands, introduced advanced CAT tool features in STAR Transit designed to reduce post-editing efforts by enhancing terminological control and translation consistency in MT and generative AI outputs. The paper, published on pages 35–36 of the conference proceedings, argues that while GenAI is seen as a 'silver bullet' for faster and cheaper translation, AI capabilities alone are insufficient due to time-consuming post-editing.

Abstract Recently, generative artificial intelligence GenAI has been perceived as a "silver bullet" for achieving faster, cheaper, and better translation production. However, in professional localisation, AI capabilities alone are not enough, as the still time-consuming post-editing PE of machine translation MT and GenAI output proves.
