# Act Security raises $60M to take action against agentic access sprawl at the infrastructure layer > Source: > Published: 2026-07-28 11:00:08+00:00 ### Act Security raises $60M to take action against agentic access sprawl at the infrastructure layer Cloud security startup [Act Security Ltd.](https://act.security) says it’s primed and ready to help enterprises safely deploy artificial intelligence agents at large scale after raising $60 million in funding across two rounds. The company was founded last year and closed on a hefty $20 million seed funding round led by Team8 and Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Caltech and Hetz Ventures. That round remained undisclosed until today, when it clinched yet more backing in the shape of a $40 million Series A investment led by Notable Capital, with participation from Startpoint Capital and SVCI. Act Security says it’s launching its “action-centric” security platform in response to traditional cloud security models being stretched beyond their limits by the emergence of agentic AI systems. Traditionally, large organizations have slowly but surely enabled massive access across their cloud environments, but the vast majority of the permissions they’ve allowed are unneeded, essentially sitting dormant. For instance, a contractor may once have been given access to a certain database system in order to fix something, and that access was never revoked, or an employee may have access to systems they never use. That has never really been much of an issue because of the slow speed at which human attackers operate. But that’s no longer the case now that cyber attackers have access to extremely powerful AI tools. AI models and autonomous AI agents can operate at the speed of machines, and it’s a big concern. In the case of AI agents, many of them have [inherited outdated human permissions](https://act.security/blog/your-cloud-was-already-unlocked-now-ai-is-moving-right-through-it), and it means that the misconfigurations and vulnerabilities that were once considered low priority because it would take so long to exploit them, can now be taken advantage of in seconds. Security teams that rely on traditional, reactive security patches are asking to be caught short. This is why Act Security says its action-centric security platform is now so important. It’s designed to target risk at the infrastructure level, and rather than flooding security teams with alerts about misconfigurations, it tries to eliminate the permissions that make them exploitable in the first place. This is done by systematically reducing the access surface across an organization’s cloud environments. It works by enforcing strict, deterministic boundaries that carefully control what human workers and AI agents can reach and what they can do when they get there. According to the startup’s co-founder and Chief Executive Jonathan Langer, it works by evaluating identities, networks and AI access simultaneously, enforcing the principle of least privilege access to ensure that agents can scale and do their work in the safest and most secure way. Langer said something like 97% of cloud access permissions sit dormant and unused, which is fine for humans, but not so for AI agents. “They’re inheriting the same old human permissions, running around the clock at machine speed, with none of the judgment a person would apply,” he explained. “Visibility tools surface thousands of findings and leave teams triaging symptoms one by one, while the root cause, the access architecture, goes unaddressed. Instead of chasing findings, we remove the conditions that turn risk into a breach, making the cloud structurally secure before attacks unfold.” With the launch of Act Security’s platform, organizations will be able to clean up their existing “access sprawl” and dramatically reduce their attack surface, while preventing their security from eroding over time. The startup’s platform continuously validates access boundaries and extends into the continuous integration and continuous deployment pipeline to block violations before application updates reach production. When using Act Security, organizations will be able to deploy autonomous AI agents with greater confidence by tightly controlling what they can and can’t access. This will help to eliminate the exposed pathways that attackers use to move laterally across networks, Langer said. In other words, attackers will find that even if they break into something, they’ll find they have nowhere to go, limiting the impact of any security breach.
