A solo developer let Claude build every crab, gull and palm tree in his Steam fishing game Solo developer Fork Dev built every 3D model in his upcoming Steam game I Just Wanted to Fish using a Python script that Claude wrote and ran inside Blender via the free MCP for Blender plug-in, according to an October 14 case study published by MCP for Blender's makers. The first commit landed on September 24 and by October 3 the island had a rigged and animated fisherman, crabs, seagulls, fish, coral reefs, a stilt hut with dock and rowboat, seven kinds of palm, a day/night cycle, menus and ten languages (the Steam page now lists 14); the crab alone was built from 40 parts with 42 bones, three colour variants and 18 animation clips, walking on the beach 53 minutes after a four-sentence brief. The game is listed on Steam for Windows with a fourth-quarter 2026 release window and a free demo promised soon. Every crab, seagull, palm tree and dock post in I Just Wanted to Fish was made by a Python script that Claude wrote and ran inside Blender, according to a case study published on October 14 https://www.mcp-for-blender.com/creations/case-studies/i-just-wanted-to-fish/ by the makers of MCP for Blender, the free plug-in that lets AI models drive the 3D app. The developer, who goes by Fork Dev, posted a clip of the game on X on October 3 with a caption any Claude user will recognise: This is what 100% of Opus 5.5 weekly usage looks like All models and animations made with blender mcp Playable Demo Soon at: store.steampowered.com/app/5350560/I Just Wanted to Fish/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/5350560/I Just Wanted to Fish/ October 3, 2026 https://x.com/ForkedPush/status/2106313584829431901 The clip has more than 125,000 views. From first commit to island in nine days Fork Dev has used Unity for five years and shipped games on Steam before, but modelling was always his least favourite job, and his Blender work had never gone beyond simple shapes. In mid-September he heard Claude could build models in Blender and tried a beach with an ocean. A week later he started a fishing game. The first commit went in on September 24. By October 3 the island had a rigged and animated fisherman, crabs, seagulls that steal your catch, fish, coral reefs, a stilt hut with a dock and rowboat, seven kinds of palm, a day and night cycle, menus and ten languages. The Steam page now lists 14. One Claude Code session, two editors A single Claude Code session drives both Blender, through MCP for Blender https://github.com/ahujasid/mcp-for-blender , and the Unity game engine, through a separate Unity MCP connection. Fork Dev does the game and level design and plays every build; Claude writes and runs the scripts. The crab shows how it works. Fork Dev sent two photos, a doodle and a four-sentence brief: crabs that wander by the water and dash into the sea or a burrow when startled. Claude built the crab from 40 parts, gave it 42 bones, painted three colour variants and animated 18 clips , each step its own script, then set it up in Unity. Fifty-three minutes after the brief, crabs were walking on the beach. After two rounds of notes from Fork Dev too many crabs, burrows too dark , the finished build was done in under two hours. Because every asset is a script, “bigger claws” means editing a number and running it again. An art style built around the limits The case study is frank about what this approach can’t do. Scripted modelling can’t produce complex smooth shapes such as a realistic face or an anime-style character. So Fork Dev built the look around simple geometric shapes, painted textures and ink outlines: his fisherman’s face is a dark shadow under a straw hat. It joins a growing list of games made with Claude, from a Pokémon Red rebuild with no image files https://madrobot.blog/2026/09/28/claude-opus-5-5-rebuilt-pokemon-red-one-prompt-no-image-files/ to Yuji Horii’s 30-minute detective game https://madrobot.blog/2026/10/13/dragon-quest-creator-yuji-horii-claude-ai-detective-game-30-minutes/ , while Epic Games has told its Disney game team to let Claude write the code https://madrobot.blog/2026/10/12/epic-games-ai-first-disney-marvel-star-wars-shooter-claude-tim-sweeney/ . “I keep running out of weekly limits” Fork Dev shared the game on Reddit’s r/aigamedev https://www.reddit.com/r/aigamedev/comments/1x5w5pk/i made this cozy fishing game solo with claude/ on October 14. He put the project at “around 200 hours”, using only Opus 5.5 at its highest effort setting on a monthly Max plan, and said the weekly limits were the main problem, the kind of drain our guide to making Claude Code limits last https://madrobot.blog/2026/10/07/claude-code-burning-through-usage-tokens-how-to-make-limits-last/ is about. He said he started straight after Opus 5.5 came out because earlier models weren’t good enough, and has pulled “lots of all nighters” since. His prompts aren’t short either. He said he gives Claude lots of reference images and doodles with about two pages of prompt, usually needs around three more passes to get an asset right, and credits Unity’s lighting for much of the look. He also said he opened the Reddit account because other accounts had been reposting his clips, some of them as adverts for AI tools he doesn’t use: Other posts on reddit are stolen from my X content... I created this account to fix that problem. Fork Dev, on Reddit Why it matters Most AI game demos stop at code; this one hands the 3D art, rigging and animation to Claude as well, the part of game making that usually needs a specialist. If I Just Wanted to Fish ships and players like it, it will be one of the first commercial games whose every model was written as code by an AI.
