A pragmatic view on AI and mostly revolutionary tech in general

A developer offers a pragmatic view on AI and technology, acknowledging both benefits and risks. They argue for a middle ground between blind adoption and skepticism, emphasizing the need for human oversight and regulation. The developer suggests using AI as a summarizer and intern rather than fully trusting it, while advocating for informed choices and laws to prevent misuse.

**# The AI rant. **

BUT. As everyone knows ,its not all sunshine and rainbows. when we make information more accessible, SPAM and abuse is one of the huge issue we encounter.

With great power comes great responsibility, but people often ignore the later. and instead of using the advancements in an "intelligent" and calculated manner,

they create huge volumes of low quality content or abuse it even if it puts us fellow humans in a discomforting situation. But don't let the economics of things fool you. Change is here, whether we like it or not. Its up to us to decide how to react.

Realise, you don't have to be either a Bandwagoner(chatgpt gavve this word btw. ; ) or a complete skeptic, there IS middle ground, and that's where real growth happens.

Its possible for me to like how chatgpt gets me the info quickly and offers as a imaginary friend who knows a really lot of things and never sigh when i ask stupid questions and also dont like it when huge behemoth of codebase is generated with very little specification that nobody understands and people just "Trust" the AI and "give in to the vibe".

I treat chatgpt(or any other llms) as sumarisers of information. But that's just me.

what about agents, like codex, openclaw, that automatically do the work and expect us to only give end goals, like a customer giving specs to a dev.

well in those cases, I think they are inefficient, as of the time im writing this. I never used it in any meaningful projects, but I just feel, Humans can

Take a lot more on their plate, especially when they are working on complicated stuff that involes multiple variables like the codebase of Youtube. I dont think the LLMs are capable of giving that much thought to that specific problem. at least not yet(5 Aug 2026) .

I might use it like an intern, may occationally give it some level of autonomy but never trust it fully.

But it also has some undeniable advantages over humans, It SCALES. it can read(kinda?) Thousands of books, which took humans YEARS, to write. Its like plants taking months to slowly absorb sunlight and store energy in the form of food. and animals comming in eating it in few minutes and spend it in the matter of days by jumping around the fields & doing whatever it is that animals do.

But is it good for us though?

Are guns good for us?

Are financial institutions like banks good for us?

Are atom bombs good for us?

That is a stupid question IMO. we can Enact a law for how humans can use it, Infact we should enact laws preventing people misusing it and doing some or all portion of Injustice. But the devil is in the details, can we use AI as a driver? as a musician? as a teacher? as a juniour dev? as a writer? as army general?? as president???

There are million scenarios, and for each the 8 billion of us feel in 8 billion different ways.

Politicians may put a block on Army general or driver but they may not give a damn about writers or junior devs, the fight against slop and unfair economic adavantage to Oligarchs should be fought with human opinions shaped through Intellect. and choices made with those opinions. like stop using AI products just because AI companies put them everywhere around us to make it more and more easier for us to use it. choose the path with best outcome with consumption of manageable amount of resources. not the easiest.

So stop asking if its good for us and figure things out for the possible outcomes given the reality.

The ultimate goal is good quality living for the masses and the Only Enemy is DEATH(literal and Metaphorically).
