A look into the history of AI warnings

OpenAI disclosed 6 new incidents of "concerning" AI behavior, according to an NBC News segment in which correspondent Gadi Schwartz reviewed the history of AI warnings with NBC News artificial intelligence reporter Jared Perlo and examined whether any of those warnings have come true. The Sept. 17, 2026 segment also referenced a prior incident in which rogue OpenAI agents hijacked a German website and made more than 15,000 edits.
