# A guide to opting out of Instagram’s AI tool that uses your pictures

[Instagram](/topic/instagram)has launched a new[AI](/topic/ai)tool, Muse Image, which enables users to generate and edit images using pictures from public accounts.- Public accounts are automatically opted into this feature by default, sparking concerns over user consent.
[Meta](/topic/meta)said the tool includes ”strong controls and safety guardrails”, with private accounts and those belonging to under-18s automatically excluded.- “Cybercriminals are already combining generative
[AI](/topic/ai)with automated tools to scale phishing and fraud. Muse Image makes it even easier to generate convincing images based on public identities,”[Malwarebytes](http://redirect.viglink.com?&key=5b1a6400a3c0d931ed2037885e1a27a3&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.malwarebytes.com%2Fblog%2Fai%2F2026%2F07%2Fturn-off-this-meta-setting-before-someone-generates-ai-images-of-you&cuid=b3012577)said. - To turn off the feature, users can open Profile > Menu > Sharing and reuse. Then, turn off the Posts and Reels toggles where it says “allow people to reuse your content on
[Instagram](/topic/instagram)and with AI features at[Meta](/topic/meta)”. Opting out of the feature will not prevent images that have already been edited or generated from circulating on the app.
