By explaining problems and planning implementation before coding, the developer now spends less time on boilerplate and more on architecture and user experience.", "body_md": "A few months ago, I was overwhelmed by everything happening in AI.\n\nEvery week there was a new coding assistant, a new workflow, or someone claiming they built an app in just a few hours. It felt like if you weren't keeping up, you'd be left behind.\n\nI tried almost everything.\n\nCursor. ChatGPT. Claude Code. Lovable.\n\nAt first, I kept switching between tools, hoping one of them would magically make me a better developer.\n\nIt didn't.\n\nThe biggest lesson I learned wasn't about choosing the best AI tool.\n\nIt was learning how to work with AI.\n\nThese days, I don't start by asking AI to write code.\n\nI start by explaining the problem.\n\nI describe the feature, the business requirements, the edge cases, and what I want the final result to look like. Sometimes I ask ChatGPT to help me plan the implementation first. Once everything is clear, I pass that plan to an agentic coding assistant and start building.\n\nThat one change made a huge difference.\n\nI spend less time writing boilerplate and more time thinking about architecture, user experience, and solving the actual problem.\n\nAI still gets things wrong, so I review everything before it goes into production. But instead of writing every single line myself, I'm guiding the process.\n\nLooking back, the first few months were the hardest.\n\nNow it just feels normal.\n\nThe tools will keep changing, but I think the real skill is learning how to communicate with AI and use it as part of your development process.\n\nThat's something worth investing in.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/a-few-months-ago-agentic-development-felt-overwhelming", "canonical_source": "https://dev.to/amantekim/a-few-months-ago-agentic-development-felt-overwhelming-13nn", "published_at": "2026-06-19 12:32:47+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-06-19 12:37:05.638773+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "developer-tools", "ai-agents", "large-language-models"], "entities": ["Cursor", "ChatGPT", "Claude Code", "Lovable"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/a-few-months-ago-agentic-development-felt-overwhelming", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/a-few-months-ago-agentic-development-felt-overwhelming.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/a-few-months-ago-agentic-development-felt-overwhelming.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/a-few-months-ago-agentic-development-felt-overwhelming.jsonld"}}
