If you've been following Snyk on LinkedIn, you might have caught my recent video — part of our "Day in the Life of a Snyker" series. I'm an AI Engineer here at Snyk, and I answered the question: "What is it actually like to work at an AI security company in Lisbon?"
Spoiler: it involves a dog named Cashew, great matcha, some beautiful views, and one of the nicest offices you'll ever step foot in. Here's a look at what a typical day looks like for me at Snyk.
Morning: Starting the day
Immediately after getting ready, I take my dog Cashew out for a morning walk. It's the perfect way to clear my head before the day kicks off. Once we're back, I grab my bag, and I'm out the door.
Commute: On the train into Lisbon
I take the train into the office. You can't beat the commute. Crossing the bridge over the water on the way into the city is a great way to ease into the day. After getting off at my stop, I grab a matcha for some fuel as I kick off my day.
Arriving at the office: Settling in, heads down
I really love our Lisbon office. The design is super cool and inviting, and walking in always gives me a welcoming feeling. It's the kind of space that makes you want to do good work.
Once I'm settled, I lock in for some focused, heads-down time. As an AI Engineer, I do my best deep work in the morning, whether that's building, experimenting, or reviewing code. No distractions, just flow.
Mid-morning: Virtual team sync
A bit later, I connect with team members virtually. One of the things I genuinely appreciate about working at Snyk is how seamlessly we collaborate across time zones. My colleagues might be in Boston, Tel Aviv, or anywhere else, but the collaboration feels natural. We're all working toward the same mission.
Lunch: A bite to eat, a stroll, and cold brew
After a busy morning, lunch is a welcome reset. I grab a burrito in the office and then decide to get some fresh air. This is one of those small things that make a big difference: actually stepping away from the screen for a bit and taking in a beautiful day.
I take a short walk from the office to a nearby coffee shop called Solo to grab a cold brew and chat with coworkers before getting back to work.
Afternoon: Back to it
Recharged, I head back for an afternoon of work. For me, this often means reviewing a project, iterating on something from the morning, or jumping into a review. The work is challenging in the best way — the kind that keeps you engaged until you look up and realize the day's almost done.
Evening: Wrapping up
Before I know it, the day is over. I wrap up my final notes, pack up my bag, and leave the office. After a quick bike ride, I’m at the restaurant meeting friends for some evening drinks. A great way to celebrate another day in the life of an AI engineer at Snyk!
