Abstract #
This article critically examines the multifaceted impact of ChatGPT on individuals’ everyday lives, with a particular focus on its influence on social interactions and intellectual engagement. While the AI chatbot offers convenient and instant access to information, this study argues that it may also contribute to a decline in meaningful social contact and a growing reliance on algorithmic thinking, potentially undermining independent critical reasoning. Drawing on a small sample of qualitative interviews, secondary sources and observational data, this article highlights how users increasingly replace genuine human dialogue with AI-mediated exchanges. This shift may weaken social relationships and diminish critical thinking through the passive consumption of synthesized knowledge.
