5 new public-data tools for AI agents: SBIR topics, SEC comps, clinical trials, page diffs and a free prompt-injection scanner

A developer released five public-data tools for AI agents on the Apify Store, now bundled into the open-source Panda Federation MCP server (v1.3.0, 23 tools). The tools cover SBIR/STTR topic search, SEC EDGAR XBRL financials, ClinicalTrials.gov leads, website page-diff monitoring, and a free scanner that detects hidden prompt-injection text aimed at AI agents. Each paid tool charges per result and returns JSON with a one-line agentSummary per row, with schema checks and a default $0.50 spending cap per run.

Disclosure: I build these tools, and I used AI to help write them and this post.

Five more Panda Federation tools went public on the Apify Store tonight, and they're now in the open-source MCP server too (v1.3.0, 23 tools). Each one reads an official or open source, charges per result (one is free), and returns JSON with a one-line agentSummary per row plus Excel/CSV.

Tool What it does Price
SBIR/STTR Topic Radar Open SBIR/STTR topics from every agency, with full text, close dates, days left and DoD Q&A contacts $0.003 / topic
SEC Financials to Excel About 40 standardized 10-K lines per company-year from SEC EDGAR XBRL, each tied to its filing, in a comps and model workbook $0.002 / company-year
Clinical Trial Leads ClinicalTrials.gov trials by condition, drug, phase or location, with sponsors, contacts, investigators and every site $0.002 / trial
Website Change Monitor Page diffs, price changes and keyword alerts on any public page, compared with your last run $0.0015 / page
Hidden AI Instructions Scanner Finds text hidden from people but aimed at AI agents (prompt injection) before your agent reads a page Free

Searches that find nothing aren't charged per result.

Add that as a stdio MCP server with your APIFY_TOKEN (setup for Claude, Cursor and VS Code is in the README). Then ask things like:

Every call is schema-checked before it runs and has a hard spending cap (run_max_charge_usd, default $0.50).

from apify_client import ApifyClient

client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("pandadad0214/sbir-sttr-topic-radar").call(
    run_input={"keywords": "autonomous", "maxResults": 10}
)
for topic in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(topic["agentSummary"])

The SEC tool needs a contactEmail, because SEC's fair-access rules ask every client to identify itself. It's only sent to SEC.

Four more (IRS nonprofit lists, Federal Register monitor, FDA/CPSC recalls and a bulk VIN decoder) are built and go public over the next day or two. Repo: pandadad0214/panda-federation-tools.
