Microsoft's Work Trend Index 2026 reveals that 32% of India's workforce are 'frontier professionals' redesigning work around AI agents, double the global average of 16%. Indian managers openly use AI, encourage teams to redesign how work gets done, set quality standards and create room to experiment, it added.</p <p "We are in the human work expansion era, not in the decline era. Eight out of 10 people are using it for cognitive work, and enterprises today have more analytical, research and thinking power in their organisations than ever before. Humans get to do a lot more interesting work than they have done before, and the opportunity for human work has never been higher," Chandok said, adding that 91 per cent of managers today are openly using AI themselves.</p <p With tools changing every 90 days, machines are getting better. Chandok said that India is not betting on prompting; it is betting on judgment, and "I believe India's AI advantage is much more than any other country in the past." </p <p According to him, what matters is critical thinking, empathy and quality control.
