First off, today, Winston Cho at The Hollywood Reporter Esquire reports that a judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed against Google over its AI snippet feature, which site owners say has drastically reduced their traffic.

The lawsuit was filed by Penske Media. The company did not allege copyright infringement, but instead alleged that Google had violated antitrust laws by providing the AI overviews, which reduced clicks to the company’s websites.

However, the judge dismissed the case. According to the judge, Penske Media cannot bring antitrust claims against Google because it operates downstream of Google. The alleged injuries, including the loss of traffic, are not the result of antitrust injuries. The decision can be appealed.

Next up today, Ernesto Van der Sar at TorrentFreak writes that the DNS resolver Quad9 is considering ceasing operations in France after broadcaster beIN Sports has asked a Paris court to impose non‑compliance penalties on the company following its failure to block pirate tennis streams.

The broadcaster had previously won a site‑blocking order that required DNS providers, including Quad9, to block access to illegal streams. However, according to Quad9, the company has no way to reliably limit those blocks to just French users.

beIN has now returned to the Paris court to ask for penalties to be imposed on Quad9. According to the broadcaster, those penalties could go up to €580,000 ($650,000) per day. According to Quad9, they have no way to separate French users from the rest of the world and that any block would have to be global.

#### 3: [CBA Signs Licence Covering Newspaper Text in Workplace AI](https://www.mediaweek.com.au/cba-becomes-first-major-australian-bank-to-sign-workplace-ai-copyright-licence)

Finally, today, Alisha Buaya at Mediaweek reports that Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has signed a Copyright Agency Business License, which covers the use of Australian newspaper articles in its workplace AI.

The license was offered by the Copyright Agency, which has long provided licenses to Australian companies to share news articles, research papers and other works internally. However, CBA has purchased a Generative AI extension to that license, which allows the company to use those works as part of its internal AI offerings.

According to CBA, this is not only about receiving greater legal certainty, but also ensuring that artists and creators are fairly compensated for their work.
