Humanoid robots are shipping in five-figure volumes, automakers are standing up robot programs, and every AI lab seems to have a "world model" or "VLA" paper out. The hard part isn't the news. It's that the signal is scattered — across Chinese and Western sources, vendor blogs, and paywalled reports. So I built Embodied Frontier, a free, open-source community site that makes sense of the embodied-AI race:

The three stages every embodied agent runs
Most robots you'll meet in 2026 run the same loop:
Perception — multimodal sensing (vision, tactile, proprioception) fused into a representation of the world. #
Cognition — a model decides what to do next. This is where VLAs (vision-language-action models) and world models come in. #
Motion — the control layer that turns decisions into torque. Also where most of the "wow, robots are clumsy" moments happen.

Frontier tech worth watching
VLA models — but watch the generalization cliff: models that nail the training distribution and fail on unseen scenes (the "libero-ood" effect). #
World models — the first tactile-grounded world models (e.g. Daimon-TWM) landed this year; huge for sim-to-real. #
Tactile sensing — the breakout trend of the year, crowned the "tactile year" at WAIC. #
Edge / on-device inference — putting small models on the robot, not in the cloud.
