For years, there have been plenty of arguments for using artificial intelligence in different parts of day-to-day life. At work, it can help with menial tasks like better cleaning up your desktop and auotmating different tasks that might take a person a few hours. In the home, there has been a raft of smart appliances rolling out. As for the next big step, artificial intelligence company Praxis has announced that they will build an AI-powered city in South America. ## People moving to Praxis’ AI-powered city soon That’s right, it was announced on September 22, with Praxis confirming that it will be based in Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. The “first phase” of the new community will be called +Colonia, and will be a a waterfront urban development. According to Praxis, “the planned investment program would support residences, infrastructure, hospitality, and spaces for cultural and commercial activity. As the project develops, Praxis aims to create opportunities for Uruguayan construction workers, hospitality professionals, suppliers, and creative businesses.” Additionally, the first group of residents are slated to move in at some point in “mid-2027.” So, unlike [Akon’s now-scrapped ‘Wakanda-Inspired’ city,](https://www.dexerto.com/entertainment/akons-6-billion-wakanda-inspired-city-in-africa-reportedly-abandoned-3224889/) it won’t take years to get up and running.  Praxis CEO Dryden Brown added: “Every frontier needs pioneers willing to build. We want to bring that spirit to the next era of human civilization.” As noted, when the technology fails, people can be left without some everyday necessities. Back in October 2025, an Amazon Web Services outage [caused owners of a $2000 smart bed to be left without an offline mode](https://www.dexerto.com/entertainment/aws-crash-causes-2000-smart-beds-to-overheat-and-get-stuck-upright-3272251/). That meant their beds were set to unusual positions and overheated.
